"Currently serving 149 science teachers and educators from 58 schools and organisations"

Our objectives are to:

  • Connect emerging and experienced science educators with local organisations to create and find opportunities where ākonga and whānau can engage with science.

  • Collaborate with organisations such as the Ministry of Education, the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, regional and national subject associations. We work to organise professional learning and events while advocating for the unique needs of the Bay of Plenty in the context of the Review of Achievement Standards and the New Zealand Curriculum Refresh.

  • Celebrate the achievements of ākonga, and initiatives by kaiako/organisations who are passionate about supporting rangatahi, by providing a platform to showcase their success stories and whakaaro.

Join our network to receive bulletin and newsletter updates directly to your email. Bay Science is an independent association - membership in a national subject association is not required to join. While our main focus is on the Bay of Plenty, we are happy to include all science educators from across Aotearoa.

"It is important to note that science education is not just for those who see their careers involving science but is an essential component of core knowledge that every member of our society requires"
