Tēnā kotou,

I’m Surandini Siriwardhana, a current student of the Master of Adult Teaching programme at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in Tauranga.

I am conducting research as part of my Master's study. It explores science teachers’ perspectives and experiences of implementing inquiry-based learning (IBL) in intermediate and secondary schools in Tauranga, New Zealand. Therefore, I invite science teachers in Tauranga who have experience in IBL to contribute to my research as participants.

What would participation involve?

If, after reading the attached information, you decide to participate, you would be invited to take part in one individual semi-structured interview lasting approximately 45–60 minutes. The interview would explore your experiences and perspectives on implementing inquiry-based learning in science teaching.

The interview will be audio-recorded to support accurate transcription with your

consent. You will also have an opportunity to review your interview transcript and

request corrections or clarification if needed.

Participation is completely voluntary. Please be assured that there is no expectation or obligation to participate. Your decision about participation will not affect your professional role or workplace, or any other aspect.

Your identity will be kept confidential. You may choose not to participate, decline to answer any question, pause or stop the interview at any time. Also, you can

withdraw from the study without giving a reason before data analysis begins.

Please take time to read the attached documents, the Participant Information Sheet and Consent Form, before deciding to participate. They provide further information about the study, what participation involves, confidentiality, recording, transcript checking, withdrawal, and the use and storage of research information.

If you are interested in participating or would like further information, please contact me using the details below.

Thank you for considering this invitation.

Kind regards,

Surandini Siriwardhana.
