Educator perspectives are being gathered to inform improvements to NCEA Level 2 and 3 assessment materials.

Kia ora koutou,

The Ministry of Education is inviting subject associations across Aotearoa to provide input into the NCEA Review and Maintenance Programme (RAMP) for 2026.

Bay Science is among the groups contributing to this process, which is focused on strengthening assessment materials for NCEA Level 2 and Level 3 only - Following recent changes announced by the Minister, no further changes will be made to Level 1 materials as part of this programme.

Most RAMP updates are intended to improve the clarity and interpretation of assessment materials, and input is being sought from those working closely with NCEA in classrooms.

Associations have been asked to provide:

  • Specific feedback on Level 2 and Level 3 materials

  • Any suggested solutions already discussed

Responses will be collated in April, with RAMP work beginning in May 2026. There may be further opportunities for clarification and collaboration as the work progresses.

Deadline for responses: 23 April 2026, 4:00pm (to allow collation for submission on the 24th)

Bay Science is collecting feedback across all science subject areas.
