Acknowledging the hard work that happens every day in our learning spaces is vital. For over three decades, the NEITA awards have provided a formal way for communities to say a proper thank you to inspirational educators who shape the future of our rangatahi.

Nominations are free, and it is a completely community driven process. Parents, students, colleagues, and school boards across New Zealand can nominate teachers and principals who go above and beyond to support their school communities.

Winners are celebrated at an all-expenses-paid awards ceremony in Melbourne this November. They also receive prestigious glass blown apple trophies alongside substantial funding to help further their work and community impact.

Why Your Local School Needs a NEITA National Excellence in Teaching Award Nomination

Our local kura are places where real world connections happen every day. When a local kaiako receives a NEITA National Excellence in Teaching Award, it lifts up the entire region.

Taking the time to submit a nomination ensures that dedicated professionals know their efforts are seen and valued by the community they serve. Nominations for the 2026 round are officially open until 30 June.
