Schools, kura, kōhanga, kindergartens, early learning services, and education organisations across the Bay of Plenty may wish to be aware of the School Sustainability and Resilience Fund (SSRF).

Established in 2022, the fund supports education-based projects that build understanding of climate change, natural hazards, resilience, and sustainability within local communities. Funding can be used to support school-led initiatives that help prepare learners and communities for current and future environmental challenges.
Successful projects can receive up to $10,000 (excluding GST), with more than $100,000 available in total. Funding is allocated through a participatory budgeting process, involving:
a public online voting round, and
a second round decided by a youth panel from across the rohe.
The fund is administered by Bay of Plenty Regional Council, with support from a range of regional funding partners.
Full details, eligibility criteria, and application information are available here:
Ngā mihi
Ngā mihi nui to Bay of Plenty Regional Council and partners for continuing to support school- and community-led sustainability and resilience projects across the Bay of Plenty. These opportunities play an important role in enabling locally grounded responses to climate and hazard-related challenges.
