STEAM-ED Charitable Trust provides STEAM education to students aged 4-18yrs, mostly in the Western Bay of Plenty with the occasional trip to the Eastern Bay. At their own venue in Tauranga South, they provide afterschool and homeschool classes as well as holiday programmes and EOTC for schools. The homeschool sessions on Monday and Wednesday mornings, are utilised by some schools to enhance opportunities for gifted students as well as neuro-diverse learners.
Each term STEAM-ED receive funding to provide robotics workshops (8 weeks for 1hr per week) with six primary /intermediate schools/kura in low socio-economic communities with the aim of building student's confidence and enjoyment in working with engineering based technology before they progress into high school. We hope this will encourage students to choose subjects in the future which will lead to higher paying careers and improved long-term outcomes for whanau.
STEAM-ED can customise a workshop to meet your school's needs and topic of study, with delivery of the workshop at either your school or their own venue. As STEAM-ED is not funded by the Ministry of Education, workshops are delivered on a user pays basis.
