50 Years of Voyager Discoveries: Free NASA Night Sky Network Webinar with Dr. Jeffrey Hayes
How do two spacecraft built in the 1970s continue to rewrite our understanding of interstellar space? Join the 50 Years of Voyager Discoveries webinar hosted by the NASA Night Sky Network and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific to celebrate nearly half a century of exploration with NASA's Dr. Jeffrey Hayes.

Exploring the Outer Solar System in 50 Years of Voyager Discoveries
This online lecture comes at a truly historic milestone for Earth and Space Science educators and astronomy enthusiasts: later next month (on November 18, 2026), Voyager 1 will officially reach a distance of one full Light-Day from Earth—meaning radio signals travelling at the speed of light will take 24 hours to reach the spacecraft.
During the 50 Years of Voyager Discoveries session, Dr. Jeffrey Hayes will unpack the scientific legacy of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, from their grand tour of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune to their current journey through the heliopause and into interstellar space. It is a fantastic, classroom-relevant kōrero for anyone teaching planetary science, physics, or the new Earth and Space Science curriculum strands.
