Kai Rotorua has a full community day planned in the māra kai on Saturday 13 December 2025. The December Community Day Māra Kai is all about bringing people together at the end of the year through gardening, shared kai and time on the whenua.

December is always a time where people connect, and this gathering creates a chance to slow down, help out in the māra, and enjoy good kai with others. The event is being held in partnership with the Rotorua Multicultural Council, who are supporting the kaupapa of bringing diverse groups together in a warm and inclusive space.

More details will be shared soon. Get in touch with Kai Rotorua to be added to their mailing list community@kairotorua.nz

Kai Rotorua were recently named finalists in the Not for Profit category at the 2025 Rotorua Business Awards. A great acknowledgement of the mahi and aroha that goes into their kaupapa.

Rangatahi have recently been active in their māra too. Students from Rotorua Boys’ High School and John Paul College helped prepare the whenua, identify plants, sow seeds, and support kūmara planting. A real example of hapori and māra mahi coming together.
