Deciding on a tertiary pathway can be a massive choice for senior rangatahi. To help clear the path, the University of Waikato is opening up its campus doors to offer senior high school students a look at life as a tertiary science student.

  • Eligibility: Open to Year 12 and Year 13 students only


What to Expect at the 2026 Experience Science at University of Waikato


Experience Science is a fully hosted day at the University of Waikato campus which gives senior students a rare opportunity to move past the lecture theatres and get stuck into real scientific environments. It is an invaluable chance for rangatahi to figure out where their science interests might lead them after high school.


Participants will have the opportunity to:


  • Hear directly from current university students about life on campus and balancing workloads.

  • Attend insightful talks delivered by leading local academics and researchers.

  • Dive into hands-on experiences inside modern, well-equipped laboratories.

  • Explore study options and pathways that address pressing global and local environmental challenges.
