INSPIRE Festival 2026 Ministry of Inspiration Brings Hands-On STEAMS to Nelson

Science is more than just workbooks and sitting in classrooms. Ministry of Inspiration is returning with its annual flagship event for tamariki and rangatahi aged 8 to 13.

Ministry of Inspiration is running the INSPIRE Festival 2026 at Nayland College on 4 and 5 September, offering interactive STEAMS workshops for students aged 8 to 13. Adobe Images.

The event brings together New Zealand researchers, industry professionals, and college mentors to lead interactive sessions across Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths, and Society (STEAMS). Rangatahi get to choose their own sessions, ranging from robotics and physics to environmental problem solving.

Workshops include animal tracking, future foods, invisible forces, squishy circuits, taonga creations, and heaps more. See the full lineup of workshops here.

• Where: Nayland College, Nelson

• Who: Rangatahi aged 8 to 13 (up to Year 8)

• Format: Friday features 1 to 2 hour interactive workshops; Saturday features 2 to 4 hour deep dive sessions

• Cost: $60 per student per day
