iNVENTIONATOR 2026 | Free Innovation Programme for Years 6 to 9

Tātai Aho Rau Core Education’s iNVENTIONATOR programme is returning in Term 2 2026.

iNVENTIONATOR 2026 is a free online innovation experience designed for Years 6 to 9 ākonga across Aotearoa, supporting them to explore real world challenges through creativity, collaboration, and design thinking. The programme centres on a simple but powerful framework: PLAY. THINK. DESIGN.



Who is it aimed at?


iNVENTIONATOR is intended for ākonga who demonstrate what organisers describe as Māui characteristics. These include curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, planning, and a willingness to take on challenges. Schools and kura can register up to five ākonga.



When does it run?


The programme is delivered online via Zoom from 9.00am to 2.30pm, with two options in Term 2:


  • Event 1 | 4 to 7 May 2026

    Registrations close 27 March 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached


  • Event 2 | 8 to 11 June 2026

    Registrations close 15 May 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached



Each event concludes with an online grand final on Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 8.00pm, where whānau are invited to join and support participating mokopuna.
