This article provides information about a science-related experience to support school planning.

The Matuku Link Wetland Education Programme (Te kaupapa rohe kōreporepo) is a hands-on outdoor learning experience set within Te Henga, Tāmaki Makaurau’s largest mainland wetland. It gives school students the opportunity to explore wetland ecosystems, discover native flora and fauna, and learn practical environmental science through guided walks, water quality testing, bird identification and ecological monitoring. Local matauranga Māori perspectives are woven into the programme, connecting students with cultural understandings of wetlands and kaitiakitanga.

The programme is tailored to curriculum needs and can be adapted for a range of year levels, with a main focus on Years 4–8, but flexible for older or younger groups.
