Spaceward Bound New Zealand offers immersive, hands-on school visit programmes that bring space science, astronomy and astrobiology directly into classrooms across Aotearoa.

This article provides information about a science-related experience to support school planning.

Experienced space educators deliver activities tailored to your school’s interests and curriculum needs, covering topics such as astronomy & astrophysics, optics & telescopes, Mars and Matariki, critical thinking, navigation, astrobiology, humanities & ethics, VR explorations and water rocket physics.


Visits can include their portable planetarium, telescopes for solar or night-sky observation, mini Mars rovers, augmented reality 3D planets, astrobiology rock samples, virtual reality experiences and hands-on workshops that span years 1–13.



     The Numbers


Programs are designed for group sizes of up to ~30 students, with a minimum visit length of one day. Cost is typically $1200 + GST per day. Schools are encouraged to discuss their specific requirements when booking.
