Recycling Week 2026 runs from 19 to 25 October. Established by Reclaim in 2013, Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest annual waste campaign returns with a focus on shifting mindsets from simple bin sorting to stopping waste at the source.
Record numbers of schools and businesses are getting involved this year.
Participating in the programme gives your kura access to a digital hub packed with daily themes, webinars, posters, quizzes, and classroom activities.

Free Classroom Resources for Recycling Week 2026
The campaign breaks down the week using daily focuses based on the waste hierarchy: avoiding, reducing, reusing, and recycling. Kaiako can adapt these self-directed modules to fit their local science context, turning everyday consumption into direct inquiry learning.
