The SCENZ Annual General Meeting for 2025 is set for Thursday 27 November, 7.30 – 8.30 pm and will take place online via Zoom. This meeting is open to all financial SCENZ members, with the link to be advised closer to the date.

Agenda Highlights

  • Minutes and Matters Arising from the 2024 AGM (held at the ChemEdBioLive Conference; see minutes below)


  • Executive Report – updates on SCENZ activities and developments throughout 2025

  • Regional Reports and Financial Report (to be circulated prior to the AGM)

  • Membership Subscriptions for 2026 – no changes proposed, with the 50% NEX subsidy continuing

  • Election of Officers:

    • Ian Torrie (current Co-Chair) stepping into the role of Senior Vice-Chair for 2026

    • Emma Smith (current Junior Vice-Chair) nominated as Co-Chair for 2026

  • Election of Honorary Life Members:

    • Nominations: Ian Torrie, Murray Thompson, Suzanne Boniface

  • Proposed Constitutional Amendment:

    • Reducing AGM notification period from 60 to 30 days

  • Proposed Administrative Restructure:

    • Creation of new part-time contract positions, including:

      • Administrator

      • Exam Manager

      • PLD Manager

      • Resource Manager

      • Newsletter Editor

  • Any Other Business

This AGM provides members with an opportunity to reflect on the year’s achievements, discuss future directions, and support the continued development of the Secondary Chemistry Educators of New Zealand (SCENZ).
