Understanding why people enter, stay in, or leave the teaching profession is vital for the future of education in Aotearoa. The New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER) is currently inviting kaiako to share their personal stories through a new research initiative.

This project aims to bridge the gap between classroom reality and policy making.

The study looks at the full spectrum of a career in education. Whether you are just starting your training or have already transitioned out of the classroom, your perspective provides invaluable insight into current working conditions.

Key details for participants:

  • Target Groups: Pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and post-service teachers.

  • Survey Duration: Approximately 15 minutes.

  • Confidentiality: All information is aggregated and no identifying details are used.

  • Incentive: Respondents go into the draw to win one of five $100 vouchers for each teacher group.

  • Access: Pre-service and post-service surveys are open via the link below. In-service kaiako should check their email for a specific invitation.

This research ensures that the voices of those working with our rangatahi are heard by decision-makers. Collecting this evidence is a critical step in building a sustainable and supportive environment for all New Zealand educators.

Ngā mihi nui; kaiako are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to research that reflects the real-world challenges and successes of teaching in Aotearoa.
