Kia ora e te whānau,

We are very excited to announce that we have confirmed dates for Te Tūkohu Ngāwhā Mātauranga Māori Science and Design Fair 2026 (our fifth birthday edition)!

The dates this year will be Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th August 2026. This is Term 3, Week 6.

We are also happy to announce that we will be once again hosting our event at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

As our dates and venue are confirmed, we are welcoming you to register your kura/school/group using the Google Form which is linked here:

Same with previous years, this initial registration form provides us with a designated point of contact to receive relevant correspondence for the event. It also provides us with initial indications of the numbers of schools, their geographic location and other insights that help us best plan for another incredible event. School registrations will close on Friday 3rd July (last day of Term 2).

Once a school has registered the designated teacher is encouraged to share any information and correspondence they receive among their fellow teachers/classes to foster interest and participation from as many keen tamariki as possible. We will be sending resources to the designated teachers to help spark inspiration and support both educators and students in solidifying their projects. Projects will then need to be registered separately using another Google Forms sheet, which will be sent out a little later on to give everyone some time to get their ideas to paper. Project registrations will close on Friday 31 July.

For now, we are excited to get these dates out to you, so get in now and register!

For any questions so far, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Ngā mihi nui,
