UNESCO is launching a new resource designed specifically for educators working with children aged 3 to 6. This global initiative provides practical pathways to integrate environmental awareness into daily learning through engaging, hands on experiences. The upcoming webinar introduces the toolkit, which was developed through the Kindergarten of the Lagoon project in Venice under the SEA BEYOND initiative, offering practical, place-based approaches to outdoor education and sustainability.

Webinar Details for Aotearoa New Zealand Kaiako

Because the live event takes place during the night in New Zealand, registering ensures participants receive a link to the full webinar recording and the downloadable toolkit resources after the session concludes.

  • Date: Saturday 6 June 2026

  • Time: 12:00 AM – 1:30 AM NZST (Midnight Friday)

  • Language: English

  • Platform: Zoom

While this resource was inspired by projects in the Venice Lagoon, the pedagogical approaches are highly adaptable to local educational contexts. For kaiako in New Zealand, place-based education aligns naturally with indigenous frameworks of kaitiakitanga and environmental stewardship.

Participants will receive access to the webinar recording and link to download the toolkit after the session.
