Young people passionate about the ocean now have a powerful opportunity to build their voice, skills, and impact through the World Ocean Day Youth Leadership Training programme.

Run by the global World Ocean Day network, this free online programme is designed to equip young people with the knowledge and tools to take meaningful action on ocean and climate issues—locally and globally.

What is the Youth Leadership Training Programme?

The programme runs over four weeks, with weekly online sessions that bring together young people from around the world. Participants explore key areas such as:

  • Ocean–climate connections

  • Campaign organising and advocacy

  • Communications and social media

  • Event planning and fundraising

Sessions are led by experienced ocean advocates and professionals, alongside youth leaders, creating a strong mix of expertise and peer collaboration.

     Who is it for?

The training is aimed primarily at young people aged 16–23, though it is open to anyone interested in ocean action.

It’s particularly suited to students who:

  • Care about environmental or climate issues

  • Want to take action beyond the classroom

  • Are interested in leadership, advocacy, or science communication
