"If we can’t take every child to the ocean, let’s bring the ocean to every child" - Blake NZ-VR

This article provides information about a science-related experience to support school planning.

The BLAKE NZ-VR School Roadshows bring immersive virtual reality learning into schools across Northland, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Two travelling educators visit schools with a class set of VR headsets to deliver engaging one-hour sessions focused on environmental sustainability, oceans, and climate change.

Through a series of guided 360° VR experiences, students explore Aotearoa’s marine and coastal environments, examine the impacts of pollution, overfishing and climate change, and learn about kaitiakitanga and practical actions they can take to protect the environment. Content includes experiences on climate change, marine mammals, and threats to the moana, highlighting both challenges and community-led solutions.

The programme is best suited to Year 7–8 students, who are prioritised for bookings.
