Fungi Fest returns to Tauranga in 2026 with a full-day community celebration exploring the fascinating, often unseen world of fungi. Held at Envirohub Bay of Plenty, Fungi Fest Community Day is a family-friendly event that brings together science, creativity, and hands-on discovery in an accessible and playful way.

Date: Sunday 29 March 2026

Time: 10.00am–2.00pm

Location: 31B Glasgow St, Tauranga 3110, New Zealand (Envirohub Bay of Plenty, Tauranga)

Entry: Koha

The day invites people of all ages to step into the world beneath our feet, from glowing bioluminescent fungi and interactive science displays to creative activities designed especially for tamariki. Visitors can explore fungi-themed stalls, take part in low-cost activities, meet people working with fungi in science and sustainability, and learn more about the vital role fungi play in ecosystems.

Alongside science and discovery, the event also celebrates creativity and curiosity, with opportunities to make, explore, and imagine. Whether you are interested in ecology, food systems, art, or simply want a fun and engaging day out, Fungi Fest offers something for everyone.

Fungi Fest Community Day 2026 is koha entry, with all funds raised supporting this event and future community science initiatives.

This event is presented by Fungi Fest NZ, in collaboration with Sustainable Backyards Bay of Plenty and EcoSci Creative Events.

Ngā mihi nui to the organisers and partners for creating an inclusive, curiosity-driven event that brings science into the community in meaningful and joyful ways.
