The Wingspan Birds of Prey Trust is on the hunt for spectacular imagery to feature in their annual fundraising calendar. For years, this calendar has been a staple for bird lovers, with proceeds directly funding the protection and rehabilitation of our native raptors.

Wingspan Birds of Prey Trust is inviting photographers to submit high-resolution landscape images of New Zealand raptors for their 2026 fundraising calendar. Adobe stock.

While the trust has previously relied on a small group of dedicated contributors, they are now inviting the wider bird community to get involved through their Wingspan Photography Competition. Whether you have photographed a wild bird in the bush or a resident raptor at their Rotorua base, your work could help tell the story of these incredible species.

How to Enter the Wingspan Photography Competition

If you want to see your work in print and support a great cause, keep these requirements in mind:

  • Subject Matter: Images must feature a New Zealand bird of prey (kāhu, kārearea, ruru, barn owl, or little owl).

  • Format: Photos must be in landscape orientation.

  • Quality: Submissions must be high resolution to ensure quality printing.

  • Deadline: Entries close on 31 July 2026.

  • Submission: Email your files to wingspan.nz@gmail.com.

  • Original post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1G9rkv9zvr/

Winners will be contacted via email in August, and all featured photographers will receive credit in the calendar and on social media, alongside a small token of appreciation.
