Bay Science is delighted to be included as part of the NCEA Review and Maintenance Programme (RAMP). This means that feedback from our members and form responders around the design and implementation of the NCEA standards can be collated and shared with the ministry.

Who can provide feedback?

While our focus is the Bay of Plenty, we acknowledge the diverse range of stakeholder perspectives across Aotearoa New Zealand. In the spirit of doing what’s best for our rangatahi, we are welcoming feedback from all science educators. We will carefully consider all responses—both from within our region and beyond—in order to honour our commitments to our members and to those who have generously taken the time to share their insights.

Which standards and year levels should I provide feedback on?

Data from our first 2025 cluster reveals there is a significant number of schools who draw from both the general and specialist science standards at Level 1. Furthermore, anecdotal data suggests that there are schools who deliver "general science" courses at Level 2 and 3 as well as creative teachers who use a single evidence gathering opportunity to meet the requirements of multiple standards. In order to capture the full diversity of how NCEA is being implemented across schools, we are not restricting feedback to any particular specialist science area.
