RASNZ 2026 Conference: Exploring the Skies Above Blenheim

The universe is coming to Marlborough this May. The annual Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand (RASNZ) gathering is more than just a meeting of minds; it is a chance for our local community to engage with the cutting edge of space exploration. Hosted by the Omaka Observatory Trust, the event highlights how New Zealanders are contributing to global astronomical conversations.

  • Dates: 15–17 May 2026.  

  • Location: Scenic Hotel Marlborough, 65 Alfred Street, Blenheim.  

  • Host: Omaka Observatory Trust.  

  • Keynote Speakers: Professor Jonti Horner (Astrophysicist and Astrobiologist) and Dr Martin George (Astronomer and Science Communicator).  

  • Cost: From $260 for full registration (discounts for members/students) or $25 for the digital livestream.

Highlights include the Fellows’ Lecture and the always popular mini book auction on Friday night. The conference also places a heavy emphasis on student presentations, ensuring the voices of our young researchers are heard by the leaders in the field.
