Te Ranga School Possum and Pest Hunt 2026

Te Ranga School has officially opened entries for its highly anticipated annual Possum and Pest Hunt, running from Thursday 4 June to Sunday 7 June 2026. This long-standing community event mobilises families and hunters to protect native biodiversity while raising critical funds for the school's students.

Gala Day Schedule & Details


Targeting invasive species is essential for protecting the native bush and supporting biodiversity in the Western Bay of Plenty. Participants can register for Small Pests (possums, rabbits, rats) or Large Pests (deer, pigs, goats) to contribute to this vital local pest control effort.


The final day brings the community together on the school field to celebrate the collective effort:


  • 9.00am: Hunters arrive / Gala opens with a community BBQ and games on the field

  • 9.30am: Bush Classroom Tour (meet on the lookout platform)

  • 10.15am: Toss the Poss competition

  • 11.00am: Killer Hill Run

  • 11.45am: Official prize giving
