Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC) invites the community to Mount Main Beach for a special Seaweek edition of the TMBC Partners Forum.

The TMBC Partners Forum for Seaweek 2026 is an outdoor event which brings the TMBC network together in one of Tauranga Moana’s most significant places to explore the connections between land and sea, biodiversity, and biosecurity. The session combines expert insights with hands-on, place-based learning in a coastal setting.

Participants will hear from specialists in marine biosecurity and take part in a guided sand art workshop led by Kenrick from Rake Healing.

  • Marine Biosecurity – University of Waikato speaker on marine pests and surveillance

  • Biofouling & Vessel Risks – Specialist insights into vessel movement and port impacts

  • Rake Healing Workshop – A creative 30-minute sand art session exploring biodiversity and collective protection

TMBC Partners Forum Seaweek 2026 Event Details

  • When: Thursday 5 March 2026 | 4:00–6:00 pm

  • Where: Mount Main Beach, near Motuotau / Rabbit Island c.a 4B Marine Parade, Mount Maunganui 3116, New Zealand

  • Who: Open to all – TMBC members and the wider community

FAQs


What should I bring?

A camp chair or picnic blanket, sun protection, and a reusable water bottle. As the session will be held on the sand, please dress comfortably for an outdoor setting.

Is there a postponement date?

Yes. If weather conditions require, the event will move to Thursday 13 March 2026.

Is this event suitable for all ages?

Yes. However, anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible guardian.

Do I need to be a TMBC member to attend?

No. This forum is open to everyone, and members of the wider community are welcome.

Is there a cost to attend?

No. This is a free event.

What happens if the weather changes?

Conditions will be monitored closely. Registered attendees will be notified of any changes via email prior to the event.

Will refreshments be provided?

As this is an outdoor beach setting, there will be no refreshment facilities on site. Please bring your own water bottle to stay comfortable during the session.

Do I need to register?

Yes. Registration is required so organisers can plan appropriately and contact attendees with any updates
